Question
Am I too old to learn to play the guitar?
Well, I know Im probably not quottoo oldquot to learn, but I would like to know from people I am and in high school, if Id have enough time to devote to learning to play a guitar. I mean, with school and everything else. Thanks in advance.
Answer
is always a good time to start playing. You should know in advance why you want to learn though. Is it really what you want to do, or is it just something that seems popular? If you want to start playing just because everyone else does youll never get anywhere with it. You may as well not waste your time and money.brbrOn the other hand, if you really want to go somewhere with it you should practice a lot, and dont go cheap when buying your equipment. A bad set of equipment can take all the fun out of learning to play an instrument.brbrWhen buying equipment, check out a few bands that you like. What equipment do they use? Do they tend to use Marshall amps? Do they use heavy or light guitars? These all affect your sound, making it easier or harder to learn.brbrLastly, make sure you use good strings. Old strings make for dull tone, making playing guitar BORING. Fresh new strings make it easier to hear the note, which helps for learning to tell sounds apart. They tend to last about a month. Most rock guitarists use Ernie Ball
